Arts Bonita is a dynamic and rapidly growing nonprofit arts
organization serving Southwest Florida through a wide range of
visual arts education, performing arts programming, and community
initiatives. With two campusesthe Visual Arts Campus and the
Performing Arts Campus Arts Bonita has expanded significantly in
recent years, increasing the number and variety of performances,
classes, and partnerships that connect audiences of all ages with
high-quality arts experiences. This growth has elevated operational
needs across front-of-house services, volunteer management, and
venue readiness, making the House Manager a key role in ensuring
every event is executed at a professional standard and reflects
Arts Bonitas commitment to excellence. Position Summary The House
Manager is responsible for front-of-house operations for
performances at Arts Bonitas Performing Arts Campus , ensuring a
safe, welcoming, and well-organized patron experience from pre-show
setup through post-show close. This role oversees venue readiness,
volunteer coordination, audience flow, and artist hospitality in
collaboration with Arts Bonita staff and visiting presenters. The
House Manager attends all assigned performances and serves as the
primary on-site point person for front-of-house execution.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Front-of-House & Patron
Experience Manage all front-of-house activity for performances,
including lobby operations, patron services, and seating. Ensure
doors open on schedule, audience flow is smooth, and patron
concerns are resolved promptly and professionally. Support
accessibility needs and coordinate accommodations as required.
Monitor house conditions during performances and handle disruptions
with calm, customer-focused problem solving. Work closely with the
Box Office team to support ticketing procedures, comps, will call,
and late seating policies. Facility Setup & Theater Configuration
Oversee venue setup for each performance and ensure the theater,
lobby, restrooms, and entry areas are clean, safe, and
performance-ready. Manage and confirm correct seating layouts and
audience flow plans in advance of each event. Arts Bonita uses
multiple seating configurations and customized layouts for
different program types. Ensure seating and theater configurations
are completed in advance of event doors , and verify that staff and
volunteers are aligned on patron entry and seating plans.
Coordinate with Production and Facilities teams to ensure
equipment, signage, stanchions, and accessibility accommodations
are correctly placed. Coordinate with the Office Manager to ensure
proper staffing for each event , including ushers, lobby support,
and front-of-house coverage based on expected attendance and event
needs. Oversee post-show resets, venue close-out procedures, and
readiness for the next scheduled use. Volunteer Leadership &
Training Recruit, schedule, train, and supervise front-of-house
volunteers, including ushers and lobby support. Provide clear
instructions and task assignments before each performance. Maintain
consistent front-of-house standards and ensure volunteers represent
Arts Bonita with professionalism and warmth. Serve as the lead
point of contact for volunteers during events, ensuring effective
communication and support. Artist Hospitality & Green Room Support
Coordinate artist hospitality needs in collaboration with staff,
visiting artists, and production teams. Set up and maintain the
green room, including refreshments, supplies, cleanliness, and
comfort needs. Support artist arrivals and ensure clear boundaries
between public, staff, and backstage access areas. Assist with
special guest needs and hospitality planning when required. Safety,
Security, and Compliance Maintain patron and venue safety, ensuring
compliance with fire code and facility protocols. Respond
effectively to emergencies, incidents, and facility issues,
escalating to staff leadership as needed. Enforce house policies,
manage patron behavior concerns, and coordinate with staff/security
if applicable. Monitor capacity, late seating procedures, and any
event-specific restrictions. Communication & Reporting Maintain
strong communication with Arts Bonita staff, the Office Manager,
Box Office, Production, and Facilities teams before, during, and
after performances. Document incidents, patron issues, volunteer
concerns, and facility needs and provide post-event notes when
required. Identify improvements for front-of-house operations and
contribute to refining event checklists, training materials, and
workflows. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in
front-of-house operations, venue management, event operations,
hospitality, or related field. Strong customer service skills and
ability to handle high-volume environments professionally.
Experience supervising staff or volunteers, with confidence
providing direction and training. Ability to work evenings and
weekends, including attending all assigned performances. Strong
organizational and communication skills; ability to prioritize
quickly during live events. Comfort using basic technology systems
(email, scheduling tools, internal communications). Preferred
Qualifications Experience in a performing arts venue, theater, or
live events environment. Familiarity with ticketing and audience
management procedures. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness
to obtain). Physical & Work Requirements Ability to stand and walk
for extended periods during performances. Ability to lift and move
event supplies and lightweight equipment (typically up to 25 lbs).
Ability to stay calm, professional, and effective in fast-paced
public environments. Schedule & Compensation Part-time, event-based
schedule; primarily evenings and weekends aligned with the
performance calendar. Compensation commensurate with
experience.
