Companion and Social Support

A companion in caregiving is someone who provides emotional support, companionship, and assistance with daily activities for individuals who may be elderly, disabled, or in need of social interaction. Companions focus on enhancing the quality of life for their clients by engaging in activities, conversation, and being a friendly presence.

A social support worker is a professional who assists individuals in accessing community resources, provides emotional support, and helps clients navigate social services. Social support workers may work with diverse populations, including the elderly, individuals with disabilities, or those facing challenging life situations.

Responsibility

• Engaging in conversation and recreational activities with clients.
• Accompanying clients to social events, appointments, or outings.
• Providing a listening ear and offering empathy.
• Offering encouragement and emotional reassurance.
• Helping with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and other daily tasks.
• Assisting with mobility and transportation.
• Monitoring clients for any signs of distress or changes in health.
• Ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.

• Developing a trusting and positive relationship with clients.
